A vintage Absinthe poster of this prohibitionist poster. Because of its high alcoholic strength, and the campaigns of the prohibitionist movement, the production and sale of Absinthe was increasingly taxed and regulated from the early 1900's. Notices advertising a ban on the sale of Absinthe, with penalties, were posted throughout France in August 1914, and in March 1915 when Absinthe was declared a toxic product, and its manufacture and sale were completely prohibited. Original size: 50cm x 35cm. Buy this Absinthe Poster as an unframed print, a mounted box canvas print or a framed print.
